What do you make of the other factors that point toward collapse or at least catastrophe? I’m talking about climate change, the increasingly likely scenario that Israel or Ukraine pulls the US into a dangerous conflict, declining birth rates and the economic downturn that seems all but inevitable as a result of one or more of these things? That has me a lot more worried than crime etc.

Here's what the source you provide says: "Among the rash of laws passed in the first decade of Justinian’s reign was a decree that pagans were not allowed to teach students." The article never disproves this fact, but attempts to explain it away with excuses, what-aboutisms, and distractions. What is your contention? That Christianity allowed pagans to teach?

No you clearly didn't read the article in the article he debunks the claim that the ancient School Plato was closed by Justinian it wasn't the ancient School Plato it was a neoplatanic School founded by Plotinus it was anything but rational they believe in things like magic and ceremonies in worshiping not two different in Christianity there was nothing rational about that school and Plato's academy was destroyed by the Roman dictator sula long before Christianity came into being that was the point of his article debunking a myth spread by Richard Dawkins and people like in New atheists because you people are terrible at history but it's funny you don't refute the main substance of it

Nope I'm dyslexic but as I've demonstrated Christianity preserved ancient knowledge and did not destroy it yes they destroyed some works but that was the works of Christian heritage like the gnostics and people an anti-christian polemesis like celsus but most ancient works if you read the articles I've linked to you show that Christianity reserved ancient knowledge and ancient philosophy you would not have them if Muslims and Christians did not copy them and don't give me that library of Alexandria man that is what is a complete myth http://kiwihellenist.blogspot.com/2018/12/cosmos-3-hypatia-and-library.html

Sorry for the typo library of Alexandria that is a myth and you would not have any works today if it wasn't for a Christian and Muslim copies who decided to copy them and most of the ancient texts that Muslims got came from Byzantium

Don't refute to Manila because the school that was shut down buddy never taught ancient Greek philosophy it taught Neil pagan mysticism but he also proves that Christianity does preserve ancient learning here's another article from him but he also proves that Christianity does preserve ancient learning here's another article from him you should educate yourself and read some actual stories like this https://historyforatheists.com/2020/03/the-great-myths-8-the-loss-of-ancient-learning/if you still believe in the conflict thesis even though major historians have disproven it go read the book Galileo goes to jail another myth most of those ancient text Muslims got came from Byzantium so you can thank them for that but you're not the best in history I can tell https://talesoftimesforgotten.com/2020/01/21/if-you-like-ancient-greek-texts-thank-the-byzantines-for-preserving-them/ the so-called age of reason the Renaissance and the dark ages are pure myths https://talesoftimesforgotten.com/2019/05/25/debunking-the-so-called-dark-ages/ and it shows how wrong you just are https://historyforatheists.com/2021/08/the-great-myths-13-the-renaissance-myth/
