To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand DeepLeftAnalysis' take on Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle and without a solid grasp of Spenglerian culture-cycles most of the sexual subtext will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's melancholic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Hellenistic four-humour thought, for instance. The subscribers understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly understand the depths of DLA's shitposting, to realize that he's not just schizoposting- he's saying something deep about LIFE. As a consequence, people who dislike this post truly are ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depths of DLA's existential catchphrase "I am a deeply closeted homosexual", which itself is a cryptic reference to his thought developed in "donating all my money to nazis and sleeping on the bathroom floor", which itself is a cryptic reference to the Ramayana, Paglia's Sexual Personae, and Plato's Republic. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepadded simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as DeepLeftAnalysis' genius sociopolitical philosophy unfolds itself on their Substack apps. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a DeepLeftAnalysis tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably verified in a Sebastian Jensen post) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Asking cuz this was a little Low Energy Jeb for your usual derangement. Please clap?

I think it’s pretty funny to suggest progressives are on the side of the Enlightenment, liberty, or even “progress,” when in reality they are cynical, nihilistic, and just as hostile to reason as religious conservatives.

Rick and Morty depicts the emptiness of nihilism well enough, but many viewers mistakenly idolize Rick’s cynicism instead of seeing it as the tragedy it actually is. This is a consequence of the bad ideas dominating our culture, pushed by both progressives and conservatives.

I also wanted to read about Rick and Morty. Also, can you do American Dad? I’ll pay you $30.

Family Guy is at least 100x better than Rick and Morty and South Park.

And I think Quagmire agrees with all the sex stuff

Yeah I don't care for Whig History. I mean all history ends up being revisionist. The invention of the pill, prophylactics, antibiotics and antivirals really has been progress. I'm not even sure how useful cycles of history framing is

I did enjoy your essay.

This is why I come to substonk. Could you do the sexual cycle of ancient Greece or the middle east?

That would be pretty cool.

A true spenglarian would be able to find the next stage in the cycle by looking back at these

I like your marriage suggestion int he footnotes. I wouldn't legally formalize it, but I think it honours the deep and important bond two men can have. We live in a cilture that does not value freindship enough.

My interpretation would be somewhat different. I think there were historical periods in which “might made right,” especially in ancient societies such as Greece and Rome, where social and physical power allowed men to dominate women quite openly. Then Christianity rose in influence, and morality became much more central to social life and sexual behavior. Later, during the Renaissance, many royal courts became comparatively more sexually liberal again. After the French Revolution, however, there was a backlash, particularly during the Victorian era, when moralism was reintroduced more strongly into elite and court culture. Part of this was connected to broader social changes, since the middle and lower classes gained more political and cultural influence.

From there, society gradually evolved into the modern world. I think the long-term trend can broadly be described as a movement toward greater emphasis on consent, individual rights, and security. In earlier eras, power and coercion often played a much larger role in human relations. Over time, however, states became stronger and established more effective monopolies on violence, which reduced crime and arbitrary force compared to many pre-modern societies. At the same time, economic development increased overall wealth and welfare. So overall, I would describe history less as a series of random cycles and more as a gradual, though imperfect, progression toward greater prosperity, security, and reduced levels of slavery, coercion, and violence.

>Spenglerian

If I read further and come to find a misreading of Spengler of the same type or quality as every other I’m unsubbing. More misunderstood than Nietzsche and Wittgenstein combined my beloved Spengler

EDIT:

>In the view of the naturalists, such as Schopenhauer and Spengler, urban capitalism and plutocracy form a dysgenic cycle, where a youthful and healthy barbaric culture falls is swallowed up by a sclerotic “civilizing” cycle, ultimately leading to degeneracy and collapse.
