I was just thinking about Star Wars Prequel rewrites. I like your take on the series. The only thing I would change is that I like the idea that Anakin had no surname originally, since he was a slave. Instead, he earned the moniker "Sky Walker" from his piloting skills. That might not quite fit in the story you depict, though.
Yeah if there's time to insert a few space battles this could work. The other idea is to "stretch out" the series as the TV shows have done, with Clone Wars, where you insert all sorts of little side-plots and adventures in-between the main plot.
I wasn't consciously aware of it when writing this, but may have heard of it 10 years ago. I think the most important part is this:
"George Lucas seems to believe that Star Wars is the story of Anakin Skywalker, but it’s really not... Anakin is, at this point in the story, a personified proxy for the entire galaxy. Saving Anakin from the Dark Side just puts a human face on saving the Galaxy from the Empire."
So in my rewrite I tried to move the focus away from Anakin as a passive victim of the Dark Side to Palpatine as an active villain with more seductive qualities, in the vein of Darth Vader. He's a guy you want to root for and against at the same time -- the viewer should *feel like* and sympathize with Anakin. Whereas in the original version, Palpatine is a crusty old man that seems like a slimy politician.
Yes, that is implied. Perhaps there is some space between Episode III and Episode IV, I think Disney has been doing something with that but I haven't been watching it.
I have always been fascinated by your work, DeepLeft, but this piece has made one intuition that I have long felt about it clear to me -
Your whole project here, like Star Wars itself, is essentially a work of Dune fanfiction. Let me explain:
“Caught between the coast-dwelling, Classically tragic (House Atreides) Elite Human Capital and the thuggish, reactionary (House Harkonnen) MAGA mobsters, the (Fremen of Planet Dune) American extreme left lie in wait, underestimated by all - yet holding fast to their vision of absolute religious vindication. Only one man can use their latent fervor to lead humanity down the Golden Path of genetic transcendence - an (Atreides) Elite scion, barred from his rightful place, yet possessing the capability to unite the extremists as their long-awaited Prophet -
That's the whole point -- the Jedi in this version are deeply unserious and not taking a firm stance on anything. That's their downfall. The viewer is supposed to feel frustrated that the Jedi aren't taking a side. But in the discussion of the Council, they could say something like, "if he does not surrender his army at once, we will have no choice but to declare him a Sith" and Obi-Wan says, "give me one chance to speak with him," delaying the decision.

That was honestly pretty damn good.
now this is high powered autism, bravo
An interesting take on it. I assume you're familiar with the Machete order?

The Yoda quotation should perhaps read "a beast killed, no harm can do. A beast left alone, no harm will do. ..."
Yeah I struggled writing dialogue for Yoda, needed some help with that.
And right at the end, the republic (empire) instead of wiping out the hutts as they promised, strike a deal with them

No, I haven’t been watching any of them

Potterposting libs have nothing on this.

I don't think that's necessary as Anakin has no experiences with Gungans to become prejudiced lol
