Here are some songs about George Washington.
The day is broke; my friends, march on,
And follow, follow Washington,
Where he commands we shall obey,
Through rain and snow, by night and day,
Till Freedom reigns, our happy bands
Will fight like true Americans,
With heart in hand, in God our trust,
Weâll freely fightâour cause is just.
A bit more worshipful:
See Washington, he leads the train,
âTis he commands the grateful strain;
See evâry crafted son obeys,
And to the god-like brother homage pays.Wake from the tomb the souls of martyrs Free,
To view this hemisphere of liberty.
Let them with ravishâd eyes look down upon
The glorious work performâd by Washington.âWashington, Savior of our Race
Man of charm and grace
Great Father of our Country
Thy name we honor and adore.ââOnward on! Ye stalwart sons of freedom. Shout out âGeorge Washingtonâ with cheer! Praise the leader of our nation true, praise him year by year. . . . Hail to the father of our glorious land, for he gave us liberty!â
âThe glorious name of Washington shall glow with fire immortal!â
âHis spirit is here, His spirit is here / Heâs standing, commanding above
In word and deed we follow the lead / Of the father of the land we love.â
Unfortunately I couldnât find the tune for most of these songs, which were composed in 1932.
The tune I could find for âFather of the Land We Loveâ sounds lame and not inspiring.
Trying to find these songs I also found Hail, Columbia, which isnât only about Washington, but is regal.
