Awesome article. I knew nothing about Machiavelli's life, since the ivory tower enjoys hiding humanity, and it's great to see he is really relevant, rather than because some "authority" says so.

Atlanta isn’t the only colony. Look also at Austin and Cary, NC.

I hope you didn't get the impression that I was stating "Atlanta is the only colony."

No. Of course not.

My brother in law is from NC and he has informed me of the extent to which the resettled Yankees in Cary are screwing up the whole state, which is why that sprung to mind.

Isn't the whole American project a settler collonial project? It's kind of reduction to not consider that.

I too belong to a tribe of settler collonials, Slavs. Yet we did it before Americans. Much before.

You're conflating all forms of "colonialism." Machiavelli is clearly referring to conscious top-down displacement of established populations in settled states, whereas you're talking about pre-state populations. Nomadic hordes of Slavs have nothing to do with this. There was no Slavic "project" because they weren't a state. The Americans didn't conquer a "state," they invaded pre-state tribes. In the case of South America, the indigenous people were mass enslaved in a caste system. Very different from Germans creating settlements along the Danube, as in Transylvania, for example.

Reminds me of a quote that Russia is a state "constantly colonizing itself", ig America is the same.

Is liberalism the same as the left? I have a hard time thinking of Kneeling Nancy as a leftist.

'Government as-such was the protection and promotion of natural rights. Any so-called “king,” or so-called “government,” that violated the natural rights of the citizens to an intolerable degree was “un-kinged,” or, “as if dissolved.”'

Pretty interesting article that might relate.

Kneeling Nancy is as left as it gets.

How so? I would think a real leftist would eschew a capitalist lifestyle and teach by example and live like the proletariat. A real leftist would also promote social realism in art, as communists declared modern art decadent by 1932. I don't see any campaign by her or any other of the so-called left to shut down MOMA and it's many, many sister museums and institutions. No, Pelosi and the others are quite happy as decadent bourgeois types.

Leftism isn’t the antithesis of capitalism. If there is such an antithesis it is yet to be created.

At least communists had a manifesto. They had rules. Capitalists also have rules, those of the marketplace.

Leftists, apparently, believe in nothing and everything at the same time. They might be insane.

Leftists believe in the inversion of hierarchies. Communism in practice meant the distribution of capital from the capital owners to the vanguard acting on part of the workers. Communism is a inversion of the capitalist hierarchy. Nancy pelosi kneeling is an inversion of the race hierarchy that formed and forms when africa and Eurasia come into contact.

Right. Beauty means ugly except when it doesn’t like [fantasy involving Amber Heard]. Anyway, Pelosi is performing. It isn’t real. A real inversion of race hierarchy would be Pelosi selling herself to Oprah. Literally, Oprah would own her. Now, maybe Pelosi wants YOU to become a helot to Oprah (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Yes? Assuming you’re white.
