American Psycho (2000), Fight Club (1999), and Bad Influence (1990) have the same subject matter. Outwardly successful, inwardly suffering, men turn to the satanic and sadistic. Whereas in Bad Influence, the demonic is a separate character which is defeated, in American Psycho, the two are one, and evil wins out. In Fight Club it is ambiguous. Bad Influence never became a classic, because people don’t want good to win.
Breaking Bad (2008) has the same plot, and everyone hates the ending. People want to see a good man turn bad.
