Social Security is the greatest threat to America. More than immigration, more than crime, more than foreign wars abroad: Social Security is a ticking time bomb which will bankrupt this country. Currently, it limps on, like a zombie, distorting our economy, taking from the poor and giving to the rich. It is regressive, a gift to greedy landlords, and mathematically unsustainable.
Even if we opened the borders entirely and let the entire world inside, eventually, we would simply run out of immigrants, and the inevitable conclusion would remain the same: birth rates are falling. That means that every year, the population of the youthful shrinks, while the population of the elderly swells. There is no way to maintain Social Security, as it currently exists, under those conditions. Something must change.
