Americans watch Marvel movies featuring Norse mythology and enjoy it without considering themselves Norse pagans. But this mythology was once part of an Odinic cult of runic magic, drug-induced frenzies, blood sacrifices, sacred groves, marriage rites, and sex magic. Similarly, astrology is thought of as an open-minded hobby rather than as a religious system, but it was originally a very particular and dogmatic religion.
